Shed those “Winter Blues”

April 3, 2008

…or skin, rather! During the winter, Mother Nature does a number on our epidermis and what’s the first thing we reach for? Exfoliators. I know that the most common drug store brand of exfoliation tools is the St. Ive’s Apricot Facial Scrub, but check this out:

There is a line called Caudalie found at Sephora that is amazing. For exfoliating, I like to use the Gentle Buffing Cream. It has little exfoliating beads in it that remove dead skin, excess oil and all while stimulating cellular renewal. After using the cream your face will look renewed and brightened and feel so soft! It’s about $35.00, which is not to bad for a high-end product.

Lips get dried out in winter too, don’t they? To remedy this, I use Caudalie Lip Conditioner. It is an intensive lip treatment that repairs and conditions dry, chapped and damaged lips with powerful antioxidants. Also, it works very well as a lipstick base! It’s the best $12.00 “chap stick” I’ve ever bought!

Origins – Be “Weil” Prepared

March 19, 2008

I spent some time in the Origins section of Macy’s last night. Ok, maybe a lot more time than I care to mention *cough cough* an hour and a half *cough*…I know…I have an addiction, and the first step is to admit I have a problem. Hahaha! Anyhow, I came across the new skincare line by Dr. Andrew Weil. He has created a line of skincare products that calms “the fire within– a key cause of dryness, redness, hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles. Now, I know what you’re thinking…”she’s only 24 years old why does she need to worry about wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, lines etc…?” My answer to that is prevention. Also, I’ve been going through some stubborn bouts of dryness and redness this winter that has done a job on my skin.

I tried the products last night: Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Face Cleanser, and Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Face Cream.

The face cleanser doesn’t foam, or even froth when water is added. Instead, it feels like a very light lotion. I washed my face with it and them dried. It felt so soft! I was pleasantly surprised! Afterwards, I applied the face cream. It was like a dream! haha, that rhymed…

The smell is that of patchouli oil, ginger and basil. Even though “mushroom” is in the title of these products, the smell is not there. Trust me, I really don’t enjoy mushrooms and if it smelt of mushrooms, I wouldn’t have spent the money on it! All and all, I’m very pleased with the results it’s given me thus far! My skin is soft, bright and not red! It’s moisturized, but not oily. Firm but not tight.

Dr. Andrew Weil has my recommendation! Try it out everyone! Don’t let the price tag scare you, either…it scared me, but hey I’m your guinea pig, haha!
